I have exciting news to share! This summer our church is returning to Honduras on a second mission trip! I have felt personally called by God to go and continue to serve the “least of these”, especially the orphans of Honduras. We are planning to work on construction projects as needed, provide medical care, bring love, clothing and supplies to orphans, feed the hungry, share God’s love through puppets, movies, and the Bible- as well as strengthening our relationships with other Honduran Christians who live and serve in their communities. I am thrilled to have this opportunity to serve God in this special way especially using the nursing skills God has blessed me with in maternal and child care. Each of the 35 missionaries will contribute approximately $1,600 to cover airfare, local transportation, lodging, food, and insurance. This will also provide the money needed for the construction projects, supplies and ministry provisions that will be used in His service. As we make preparations – both physical and spiritual, I am inviting you to partner with us in this great God adventure. First, and most importantly, we need your prayer coverage as we prepare for the trip, travel to and from Honduras and serve on this mission. These little babies are often wrapped in the blouses or skirts of their mothers to return home where they lay on a dirt floor. They are frequently infested with parasites. The Infant mortality rate is 24.03 deaths/1,000 live births. The families often live in huts with mud floors, contaminated water, and minimal to no medical care. As I care for all the little babies put in my path I cannot help but think of how very much we have here in United States and how little is available to these little ones in third world countries. If I enhance just one life on my trip there it will be a successful trip. I will continue to add to the web site as our needs develop during the next six months of preparation. But please try to imagine how much more difficult it is for people who were already struggling just to survive before this world-wide financial crisis struck.
